Twenty8: Unconventional Shopping

I have been out and about Los Angeles doing some unconventional shopping. After spending two years living in a Los Angeles suburb, it was about time I venture out of this beach town and go on some adventures.

My first stop was at the Rose Bowl Flea Market. I did my Google research and read reviews beforehand for educational purposes and followed the advice of many and left Malibu at seven to arrive early before all the craziness really started. It was unbelievable to see all the STUFF was being sold; it was like being at an organized junkyard.. After hours of browsing, people watching, and sifting through everything vintage, Chloe and I were ready to grab some Diet Cokes and take a nap, but I will most definitely be going back when I have an apartment to furnish.

My first vintage find (-:
I had been on the hunt for something turquoise for months and months, and the Rose Bowl Flea Market had this one booth with amazing turquoise jewelry except the prices were a bit too high for my taste.. Instead, I found this turquoise cuff at a random vintage booth that had a mix of tons and tons of jewelry. It was definitely my lucky day!

My second stop was the Barney's Warehouse Sale. A bit spontaneous and a bit late in terms of getting to the sale and calling dibs on the good stuff, but nonetheless I made it to my first warehouse sale. There wasn't much in the women's clothing, definitely more in men's, but there were couple of goods that I considered.. Amazing deal for Lanvin pumps.. And a variety of other cute, cute, cute shoes, but being a popular size seven, it was a failure. Round two will be in better preparation.

My best advice would be to shop with an open mind. I think that's the fun part about shopping at Flea Markets and Warehouse Sales.. There's no guarantee you'll find anything.

  2. Hi. I'm a stylist in LA and I'm totally obsessed with your blog. I'd love if you visited my new blog for multiple posts a day on all things fashion. I just moved to California after graduating back in south with a degree in visual merchandiser. In attempt to get my heel in the door, I've launched a site all about celebrity fashion and the trends that create it. Check out what Vanessa Hudgens was wearing when I ran into her last week and Olivia P's breaking news. I'd love the support. I'm following you, I hope you'll do the same. Thanks so much.

  6. One of my favourite things to do is go hunting in flea markets, it might sound sad, but for me it's like a cheap frill. Definitely take advantage of having LA flea markets on your doorstep, they're so far & few where I live :)
